You know her as a wise yogi, but let me reintroduce you to Ahlia, the former professional surfer and experienced scuba diver! Outside of yoga, Ahlia is extremely passionate about our oceans. All the time she has spent in the water has lead her to become quite knowledgable about many problems our waters are facing, like pollution and dying coral reefs. In Part 2 of this conversation, Ahlia is teaching us about ocean conservation and how we can help!
Did you know that 4 billion pounds of trash enter our oceans every year? Statistics like these are what Ahlia is sharing with us today, and while they are sad to hear, they are also things that can’t be ignored. Ahlia is going to tell us some ways that we can be more mindful to prevent all this garbage from outnumbering our sea life! She also shares what is has been like overcoming her fear of sharks and what she has learned that can help avoid tragic things like shark attacks. Lastly, Ahlia educated me on the topic of coral reef conservation. I truly didn’t know just how important coral reefs are to our ecosystem (not to mention the safety of mankind!) and the fact that they are endangered. I learned so much during this conversation and I know you will too!
Even though some of these facts about what’s happening in our seas are hard to hear, the message that Ahlia shares is equally as empowering. It is never too late to start making a difference, and Ahlia is going to tell us how we can do just that! You’ve heard me say it before – little changes add up to big change. Let’s learn and practice mindfulness together!
